The World: Tokyo - Dentsu promotes Andree to executive officer

Dentsu is set to name Tim Andree, the chief executive of Dentsu America, as its first non-Japanese "executive officer".

This is a senior management designation just below board level, and is being seen as a signal that the marcoms giant is getting serious about becoming more international.

This is hinted strongly in a statement from the company, which said that Andree, who took on his present role in May 2006, "will take on even weightier responsibilities".

The statement cited Andree's "familiarity with the advertising business in the US and Europe" and "a unique path that includes a wealth of client experience" as the reasons for the promotion to his new role.
