WPP takes stake in AGB Italia Group

LONDON - WPP Group has acquired a 30 per cent stake in Italian research company, AGB Italia, which is one of the countries leading television audience measurement companies.

The move further strengthens WPP's media research credentials and it follows closely WPP's investment in IBOPE Media Research in Latin America.

The AGB Italia Group specialises in the installation and management of television audience measurement systems and produces data on behalf of TV stations, advertisers and ad agencies through its principal operating companies in Italy, Turkey, Greece and Portugal, as well as a number of eastern European and Latin American countries where it already works in partnership with IBOPE.

For the year to 31 December, it reported revenues of $27 million and had net assets of $2.9 million.
