The Campaign Big Awards honours the best and most innovative creative work of the past 12 months. Here, we showcase the cream of this year's crop.

Chairman's Statement.

It really is a pleasure chairing the Big Awards.

You get to hang around with some of the top British creative directors and see the very best British creative work.

It also gives an insight into the health of British advertising.

The judges all know their stuff and have a vast knowledge of advertising and years of experience behind them. It's interesting hearing their very different views, but fascinating how they all agree on a great piece of work.

It really is difficult to impress these juries and to win in a particular category.

One thing is for sure - they are so British in terms of their insistence on fairness. Even the chairman had to step out when having a personal connection to the work!

This year, we had some very nice print and posters, and some lovely individual TV commercials. The less traditional work also seemed strong.

But, surprisingly, the Direct category seemed underwhelming overall. Perhaps my expectations were too high as I'd seen what I thought was a renaissance in this category a few years ago. Agencies seem to be far choosier with what they put into this category these days.

The other surprise: TV campaigns seemed thin on the ground.

Clients just don't seem to run as many ads nowadays. They seem to be making individual ads and running them more often.

Hopefully, we will see more in these categories next year!

It certainly seems more and more difficult to win awards, and so I'd like to congratulate all of the winners.

I'd like to thank all of the online judges for taking such painstaking care and in selecting all of the winners in each category. And I'd like to say a special thanks to the gold judges who gave up their time to scrupulously weed out the handful of worthy winners.

Most important, thank you to all who entered. Finding the money to enter these awards gets tougher and tougher but, without you, the awards simply wouldn't exist. The quality and quantity are what make the competition so fierce and why the awards are so coveted.

Advertising makes its own special mark on a year and it will be a pleasure to look back on this year's fine work. I have a feeling it will stand the test of time.

So that's it from me.

I really enjoyed the experience.

I hope you had a great night.
