You will be working for an independent, forward thinking b2b publishing company with products that are number one in their markets. The company publishes magazines, holds a variety of websites and are looking to expand their portfolio.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to take ownership of the whole of the production process. Not only will you be working with some great people in a friendly office, but you will be working on some well-established products and be a part of a team that rewards hard work.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will have overall responsibility for the production of a number of publications and associated material in both digital and print formats, including some website content.
The key tasks of the Production Manager include:
Overall responsibility for the production of a number of publications and associated material in both digital and print formats, including some website content.
Editing content to consistently high standards for sense, accuracy, flow, structure, clarity and style.
Proof-reading and checking layouts for sense, style, accuracy and aesthetics.
Work closely with, and in support of, the project teams.
Take responsibility for production stages of assigned projects.
Brief and liaise with designers, printers and other production suppliers.
Ensure all products follow brand guidelines and business quality standards.
Create an annual production schedule with clear deadlines for team members.
Hold regular meetings with project teams to update on the production process.
The key attributes of the Production Manager include:
Excellent communication skills coupled with a flexible and positive approach.
Solid publishing background with experience in B2B.
Good understanding of typesetting, print and design, and online publication.
Excellent editing and proof-reading skills.
In-depth knowledge of the print/production process and good eye for layout and design.
Excellent organisational skills and able to work accurately under pressure.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes and, ideally, Photoshop, QuarkXPress/Adobe InDesign, Illustrator.
An understanding of the standards and regulations set for the conduct and output of the role e.g. copyright issues.
Knowledge of digital edition software beneficial but not essential.
This role is based in Surrey and is paying up to £32,000 + benefits.
