With a collection like this – the largest in the world – we need to ensure that the information we store, and make accessible, is the kind of information our customers want to retrieve. About the role

Our customer insight and data function is a newly established function that needs a firm hand to maximise its potential. We’re looking to increase public engagement through redesigned public areas, innovative events and exhibitions at our Kew site, along with a range of digital communications; yet we need to do this in a way that’s targeted and meaningful. You’ll be responsible for creating a customer insight, research and data management strategy that allows us to make the kind of informed decisions we need to take us forward. Establishing best-practice principles, practices and techniques from the outset, you’ll also commission, review and communicate customer and market research to help us achieve our aims and forge a new corporate approach to CRM and data analysis and capture. You’ll then make sure these critical insights are stored in a way that we can use them to best effect.

About you

Already an expert in your field, your experience in designing and delivering quantitative and qualitative research and customer data management is second-to-none. Yet as a fledgling function, it’s going to be your ability to set our customer insight and data strategic direction, whilst using your influencing skills to achieve buy-in across the organisation. Your efforts will really help shape our future direction. And as you’ll have direct management responsibility for one other member, you’ll also need to inspire and motivate them to deliver your vision. In short, it’s a role where your creativity, leadership, strategic-thinking, analytical and organisational skills will come into play. Any relevant professional qualifications are desirable, as is public sector or culture and heritage sector experience.
