Mid-Weight Front End Developer – Award Winning Studio – London   -  £30k - £35

We are delighted to be currently working with an award winning studio in Central London that are seeking a Mid-Weight Front-End Developer with a sense of passion and flair to join their team. 

Reporting into the Lead Front End Developer, you will act as a tie between the backend developers and the design team, as well as providing consultancy for Project Managers and future clients on front end matters.

The Role Will Involve:

-      Hand coding in SASS/CSS.

-      Building apps, websites and e-mails that are responsive, ensuring they work seamlessly across desktop and mobile platforms.

-      Hand coding JavaScript.

-      Reviewing existing JavaScript Code and updating as necessary.

-      Ensure focus on Directives and Services at all times.

-      A modular approach to dealing with project builds.

-      External API calls.

-      Ensuring maintenance and support is provided during the building of new promotions and new pages.

-      Consulting with Project Managers and designers in respect to Front End matters.

-      Continued maintenance of existing sites.

You Will be able to Demonstrate:

-      You can create semantic code that is clean and adheres to web standards.

-      An advanced understanding of HTML5.

-      An understanding of how to work in GIT and SVN

-      The ability to work with PSD files in Photoshop, ensuring images are optimised for use on the web.

-      An understanding of Gulp and Grunt

-      An in-depth understanding of SASS

-      An understanding of problems that can occur when designing cross-browser, including tablet and mobile designs.

-      An in depth understanding of responsive web development and design.

-      An understanding of OOCSS and BEM

-      Advanced CSS 2/3 skills

-      The ability to work with JQuery and JavaScript

-      An in-depth understanding of current Accessibility – AAA, AA and W3C A guidelines

-      An understanding of responsive frameworks (HTML5 Boilerplate, Twitter Bootstrap)

-      The ability to create front-end templates for CMS platforms such as Joomla, Umbraco and Sitecore.

-      Previous work in Visual Studio would be advantageous.

-      Angular Hot Towel SPA template knowledge would also be advantageous.

-      Understanding of AngularJS (1.x) would be beneficial.

-      Understanding of ITCSS would be advantageous.

-      A qualification or degree that is related to front-end development would also be beneficial.



-      Good written and spoken English.

-      Comfortable working both alone and as part of a team.

-      Ability to explain work clearly – good communication skills.

-      Eager to progress and work hard

-      Proactive


Technical Skills Required:

-      Experience in building websites for mobile and desktop that are high quality and responsive.

-      Experience in using SASS/BEM/CSS to a high level.

-      2 years+ experience in a front end position within a digital agency.


Experience Required:

-      A portfolio of work that demonstrates a number of projects that have been worked on, detailing the role that you were in whilst on the role, with active links to each of the projects.
