Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Account Director to join the C&IT and Event commercial team. The role requires a talented sales person to work across all the brand extensions for C&IT and Event, and be one of the driving forces of our business.

Conference & Incentive Travel and Event are leading publications within the incentive travel and event sectors. Our clients consist of leading hotel groups, tourist boards, airlines, agencies, venues & suppliers ranging from Cafe de Paris, The Tower of London to Hilton Hotels or Virgin Airways. The market is a dynamic & exciting; we pride ourselves on offering unique solutions to our readers who are looking for the next best place to hold their event or conference.

Through a consultative selling approach you will manage and grow key existing accounts whilst seeking new business opportunities. You will frequently be out and about on meetings with your clients, also meeting key players within the industry at awards, events, exhibitions and conferences. The role requires an individual with a real ‘can-do’ attitude who will successfully sell across the breadth of the C&IT and Event portfolio inclusive of: digital solutions, forums, awards, print display and sponsorship as well as creative bespoke solutions for individual clients. 

As the role is very target driven, selling across both brands (where relevant) and numerous products, you will be able to demonstrate a confident and mature approach, working well under pressure. Digital is key to the brands’ strategy and you will demonstrate strong knowledge of commercial digital capabilities and have plenty of ideas to bring to the table. 

As well as having excellent account management skills, the role requires some Project Management. The Account Director will project manage some of our key products and will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running and profitability of the project from start to finish. The role requires an individual who is able to work well with other members of our team, the editorial team, our awards team, forums team, production etc, to project manage successfully.

Day to day you will be responsible for the smooth running of your own business. You will work with other members of the team to develop business opportunities, and will help more junior members grow their accounts. In a highly competitive marketplace you will have great relationships with all key players in the industry, a creative and intelligent sales approach and will be an excellent negotiator. You will be proficient at understanding/analysing current strengths, weaknesses and areas of development for our brands and producing a plan to help build the sales story.

The ideal candidate will be a senior account manager or account director with a consultative and strategic sales approach, adept at cross selling and looking for a new challenge. 


The right applicant will be able to provide evidence of:

  • Experience of working in a comparable role which includes creative account management and plenty of face to face sales
  • Outstanding personal and written communication skills – your proposals will be well thought out, tailored and considered.
  • Accurately forecasting revenues – for projects and for your own territories and business - with good numeracy skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills 
  • Strong project management skills 
  • Great negotiation and communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team 
  • Sound understanding of selling a varied digital offering
  • Proven experience selling live events and bespoke solutions
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work on own initiative 
  • Ability to collaborate with other teams and departments within the business
  • A mature, professional, hard working and tenacious approach.
