Two really exciting opportunities have arisen to join UM Birmingham, an integrated media agency that has grown significantly over the past 5 years. We’re looking for candidates to fill two great roles, a Senior SEO Content Manager & Senior Technical SEO Manager.

The Senior Content Manager will be required to work hand in hand with the rest of the SEO team in designing and implementing content at a strategic level. This is an exciting role which will require the candidate to oversee the growth of our content offering whilst being able to perform a number of key roles from content workshops, ideation and content audits through to writing and producing engaging copy. We’re looking for a content evangelist who is also capable of rolling their sleeves up and writing for a number of clients across a varied audience base.

The Senior SEO Manager will work as part of an exciting and growing SEO and Content team and will be responsible for the management and growth of SEO for some of our key clients. It is both an account management and a hands on SEO role requiring a strong level of technical SEO knowledge and experience. Supported by a team of strong SEO executives you will be expected to work closely with clients to help grow the authority and performance of sites across a wide range of brands and audiences.

Ideal person (both roles)

  • At least 3 years’ experience working in an agency environment (SEO & Content primarily)
  • A proactive and positive “can do” attitude – ambition will be rewarded in this role
  • Essential to have superb attention to detail
  • Pro-activity and the ability to work with the minimum supervision
  • Capable of working with multiple deadlines and under pressure
  • Good telephone manner, interpersonal skills and client management
  • Strong relationship builder with teams, other departments and external partners
  • Self-motivated to learn new SEO skills and stay up to date with the industr
  • Comfortable using data and measurement as a foundation for strategic thinking and decisions

Key Skills: Senior Content & SEO Manager

  • Strong experience in producing engaging content campaigns for the web
  • Excellent copy writing skills
  • Ability to get into a client’s way of thinking and engage audiences using client language and tone of voice etc.
  • Expert in writing for the web and for helping clients develop their own content styles, tone of voice, brand styles etc.
  • Can manage and deliver link-building campaigns or can appreciate and build in link acquisition and link attraction hooks
  • Experience in designing, planning and implementing content strategy
  • An appreciation for the over lapping role between SEO and content
  • An appreciation for the role of conversion rate optimisation in content
  • Excellent use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in measurement and reporting for content, including the ability to deliver results back to clients at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills required for new business, internal meetings and day-to-day client contact
  • Managing client expectations and have the ability to resolve issues independently
  • Comfortable management and fostering the growth of content and SEO executives
  • Proactive and authoritative speaker at both internal and external (Client) meetings

Key Skills: Senior Technical SEO Manager

  • All aspects of SEO, including audits, consultancy, on-going SEO retainer delivery and website migrations/launch
  • Technical SEO: crawl error management, duplicate content management, indexation issue resolution, xml sitemaps, etc.
  • Excellent use of SEO and web analytics tools such as SEMRush, Screaming Frog, DeepCrawl, Moz, AWR, Ahrefs, VWO, Search Console etc.
  • Mobile and local SEO
  • International SEO experience is highly advantageous
  • Excellent knowledge of Google Analytics
  • Good knowledge of Google Tag Manager implementation is highly advantageous
  • Can manage and deliver link-building campaigns
  • Liaising with web developers and other internal stakeholders for delivery of projects
  • Campaigns based on conversion rate optimisation, familiarity with split testing tools
  • Comfortable with some copy-writing for webpages and blog posts
  • Excellent use of Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Content marketing experience
  • Excellent communication skills required for new business, internal meetings and day-to-day client contact

Core responsibility – Senior Content & SEO Manager

  • Work with the SEO Account Director to grow the content marketing offering, maximizing huge growth opportunities that exist currently
  • Provide content strategy guidance to clients and to help implement content strategy
  • Create engaging web content for clients websites
  • Develop the teams content capability and foster growth in execs
  • Manage and grow client content creation and delivery
  • Deliver content workshops and training

Core responsibility – Senior SEO Manager

  • Manage relationships with key clients with the aim of growing revenue through strong SEO improvements and performance
  • Identify and highlight SEO improvement opportunities across client websites
  • Manage ongoing monthly SEO retainers
  • Mentor and foster growth of existing SEO executives
  • Report to clients on key SEO performance metrics
  • Advise on SEO best practice and be prepared to implement SEO work as and where necessary
  • Help grow the team and the overall SEO capability within Mccann Central
