The Alliance of Sector Skills Councils in Scotland, on behalf of the Modern Apprenticeship Group Secretariat, has launched the campaign as an additional method to promote Modern Apprenticeships.

Modern Apprenticeships offer people aged over 16 the chance of paid employment, combined with the opportunity to train for jobs at different levels. The Alliance is the voice for 23 sector skills councils, together articulating the voice of employers of around 90% of the workforce on skills issues.

Everybody from stakeholders in the Scottish skills system to Scots across the nation will be able to follow updates live via Twitter or log onto Facebook where a dedicated page will host news, case studies, photos, events and updates relating to Modern Apprenticeships in Scotland.

Iain McCaskey, qualifications manager for the Alliance Scotland and Modern Apprenticeship Group Secretariat, said: "It is fantastic to see the profile of Modern Apprenticeships in Scotland strengthened through a social media campaign such as this. The campaign will ultimately help to promote apprenticeships to a wider audience, especially the younger generation who are the largest proportion of social media users across Scotland and the UK."
