Trading places: this week's people moves

Publicis gets a new chief executive as well as a new agency this week, while Burger King gets burned with the departure of its global CMO, in BR's round-up of the industry moves in advertising, marketing and media.

MRM London has appointed Ogilvy Group's managing director on its Vodafone global account, Richard Barker, as client services director. Barker will replace outgoing client services director Tom Wason. (Campaign)

Publicis London has parted company with its chief executive Neil Simpson and replaced him with The Red Brick Road's managing partner, Karen Buchanan. Buchanan will join the agency in the coming months, reporting directly to Publicis Group UK’s chairman and chief executive Nigel Jones. (Campaign

Newly created agency Kitcatt Nohr Digitas will be led by the Kitcatt Nohr founders Marc Nohr and Paul Kitcatt, who take on the roles of chief executive and chief creative officer respectively. The pair will report to Stephan Beringer, the president of Digitas International. Among other changes, James Sanderson, the UK president of Digitas, has left, following the acquisition by Publicis. Burger King's global chief marketing officer, Natalia Franco, has become the latest high-profile casualty at BK. Franco is leaving after less than a year in the role. Jonathan Fitzpatrick will take on the new role of executive vice-president, chief brand and operations officer. (Marketing)  

Warner Brothers UK, the film distributor, has promoted Polly Cochrane to senior vice-president and group marketing director, after less than two years with the company. Cochrane joined Warner Brothers in April 2009, as vice-president and group marketing director. (Marketing

Unilever, the FMCG giant, has appointed Marc Mathieu to the role of senior vice-president of marketing. Mathieu, who will start on 1 April, will report directly to Keith Weed, chief marketing and communications officer at Unilever. (Marketing)  



MediaCom has promoted Ivan Fernandes to the newly created role of global director, social media technology. Fernandes will report to Mick Mernagh, chief insight officer of MediaCom Worldwide, and Oliver Gertz, managing director of MediaCom Interaction EMEA. (Campaign)  

The Olympic Park Legacy Company has appointed a new chief of media and external affairs. Victoria O’Byrne joins from the Institute for Public Policy Research, where she was a consultant, and, before that, director of external affairs. (Media Week)
