Diary: Turkey of the week - Mother/Boots
Campaign, 12 November 2004, 00:00am
Claire Billings doesn't understand what Mother hopes to achieve in its new, rather cynical ad for Boots: "With Christmas the crucial time of year for high-street retailers, you'd think Boots would be looking to generate some warmth and excitement about it. However, its latest ad rejects this route. It stars Harry Hill, in an obvious attempt to lure younger, cooler shoppers, and a housewife - OK so far. But it's when they start hurling snowballs at carol singers they are in danger of alienating Christmas shoppers."
