Wunderman Cato Johnson has resigned the pounds 4m through-the-line business for Telewest’s business-to-business division. The agency cited creative and strategic differences for the split.

business for Telewest’s business-to-business division. The agency cited

creative and strategic differences for the split.



Indie radio station Xfm 104.9, which launches in September, has

appointed Saatchi & Saatchi to handle the media planning and buying for

its pounds 2m launch.



Jacob’s Bakery has lost its general manager for countlines, Craig

Walker.



He will move to France to become managing director of biscuit firm

Heudebert, owned by Jacob’s parent company Danone.



Sony has announced a promotion to encourage customers to wait for new

stock after running out of Sony PlayStations (see story, page 6).

Customers will be asked to place a deposit and in turn they get the

choice of a free memory card or one of seven games.



Two top Leo Burnett executives in the US have resigned. It is thought

Bill Lynch and Jim Jenness resigned after a boardroom struggle over a

cost-cutting exercise.



Cellnet announced that Ray Smith has been appointed as managing director

to replace Howard Ford who resigned earlier this month. Smith was

previously head of retail and consumer products for BT.



Threadneedle Asset Management is believed to have appointed Dewe

Rogerson to handle its pounds 3m brand account as part of its plan to

launch onto the high street.



Havas Advertising, the French ad giant, has appointed Bob Schmetterer

from the US as chairman and chief executive of Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper

Worldwide.



Team Saatchi and M&C Saatchi are the two agencies left contesting the

ANZ Bank ad account. The Australian bank recently appointed M&C in the

domestic market.



Young & Rubicam, Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper and WCRS are thought to be the

three agencies left on the Haagen-Dazs shortlist.



Cowan Kemsley Taylor has recruited ex Saatchi & Saatchi new business

director Jo Smith as business development director. Smith left Saatchis

after its merger with sister agency K Advertising.



Sony has launched its biggest consumer promotion by joining the Air

Miles programme on a wide range of its consumer products.



Elida Faberge is relaunching its Organics haircare range, investing

pounds 20m and spending pounds 15m on TV advertising. The relaunch will

include ten million samples and a money-off promotion.



Sky TV has signed an ad partnership with The Daily Telegraph worth more

than pounds 1m. The broadsheet will tailor ads around Sky’s major live

events for one year.
