The ad shows families in Austwick eating together, wrapping gifts and decorating their homes with Asda products.
The ad, by Fallon, is set to the classic Christmas track It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Rather than paying anyone a fee for appearing in the ads, Asda made a contribution to the village community fund to pay for local projects.
Other retailers have continued to use celebrities, with Ant and Dec appearing with Jamie Oliver in the Christmas ad for Sainsbury's.
Take That feature in the Marks and Spencer Christmas ad, along with Twiggy and Myleene Klass.
Real people replace stars in Asda Christmas

LONDON - Asda has eschewed celebrity for its Christmas ad, which features real-life inhabitants of a Yorkshire village.
