Naked launches Barmy Army single

Matt Jagger, the agency’s head of entertainment, has written, recorded and produced the single, called Hey, Hey, Ricky, as an anthem for England’s impending Ashes contest against Australia.

Blue Square, the online betting site, and The Sun are supporting the release, which taunts Ricky Ponting, the Australia skipper, with a line in the chorus: We’re taking back the Ashes, they don’t belong to you. 

The track, which can be heard above, is available to download from iTunes now and through other digital retailers from 13 July.

Malcolm Green, the creative development director at Naked, has created a video for the song, produced by Great Guns Productions, which will be released next week.

The single is designed to enforce Blue Square’s association with the Ashes and will receive promotional and editorial support in The Sun and thesun.co.uk.

Jagger, a former director and vice-president of Universal Music, said: "Bringing together this kind of four-way partnership is exactly what I’d hoped to do when I joined Naked.

The Ashes series between England and Australia, which runs for five Test matches, begins next Wednesday in Cardiff. The action moves to London the following week with the second Test at Lord’s.
