The game, called 'Fight the Apocalypse', can be played online, mobile and print will give users a chance to appear on the show.

It is based around collecting hidden symbols, which players must locate, photograph and send via MMS to the campaign shortcode. Images taken on a mobile phone will then be recognised by the game and uploaded on to the player's profile.

The first clue will be released on 20 January. A video featuring 'Supernatural's resident angel Castiel, played by Misha Collins, will launch the game that can be accessed via a dedicated microsite, luciferiscoming.com.

To win, players can either locate all the secret symbols or create an online army of support, with players encouraged to invite friends to join their army through social networking site Facebook.

In addition Twitter will countdown the start of the game as well as announce new clues and create a community around the game and new series of 'Supernatural'. Followers of the Fight the Apocalypse Twitter feed will be given tips and additional mini-challenges to win extra prizes.

Other activity communicating the arrival of the series includes TV, outdoor and press. Media for the campaign was planned and bought by Manning Gottlieb OMD.

This is gonna be so much fun! All the Lost-game stuff was brilliant when it first started. And the Dharma Initiative stuff was awesome.

But I gotta ask... please-please-PLEASE change it from 'actress' to 'actor' Misha Collins is a MAN. And a brilliant one at that.
