T-Mobile wins top prize at the BTAAs

LONDON - Saatchi & Saatchi scooped the top gong at last night's British Television Advertising Awards, where its 'Dance' ad for T-Mobile was named Best Television Commercial of the Year.

The spot also won two golds in the Telecommunications Services and Best Over 90-Second Commercial categories.

The Most Successful Agency of the Year accolade went to Bartle Bogle Hegarty after it picked up seven golds.

They spanned its Robinsons Wimbledon Championships sponsorship, the Barnardo's 'Turn Around' campaign and its Johnnie Walker film 'The Man Who Walked Around The World', which also picked up the award for Best Viral Commercial.

VCCP was another agency to perform well at the ceremony, landing four golds and the award for Best Series of Commercials for its comparethemarket.com campaign.

Rattling Stick scooped the award for Most Successful Production Company of the Year for the third year in a row.

The Chairman's Award for an outstanding contribution to the industry, voted for by the directors of the BTAA, went to Steve Henry and Axel Chaldecott, the creative founders of Howell Henry Chaldecott Lury.

The awards, held at Grosvenor House, were judged by 21 leading industry figures.

Ad cruncher - 11 March 2010

How the hell did T Mobile win best ad of the year?

Phillips Carousel was by far the best and obvious winner.

The Jury should be ashamed. I found it both depressing and a sham.

MATTHEW MALCOM - 12 March 2010

I love the T-Mobile ad.

But I have to agree with Ad Cruncher, Carousel is by far a more ground breaking and visually impressive ad.
