The "keep your eye on the ball" campaign, which is backed by the FA and the PFA, aims to raise awareness of testicular cancer among the football community.
The ad, created by Hooper Galton, highlights the importance of regularly checking the testicular region, by showing how adept Sheringham is at keeping his eye on his ball as he appears to release one of his own testicles and play keepie-uppie with it under his clothes.
The film will be run in football grounds across the UK including Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle. There are also plans to air the spot on national TV.
