Waterstone shortlist

CONSUMER: Waterstone's has shortlisted four agencies ahead of the autumn launch of its revamped website. It currently uses Amazon but wants an online presence of its own.

Mamas & Papas show

CONSUMER: Kids' accessories store Mamas & Papas is to hire an agency to promote its first fashion show, which takes place in November. Undisclosed shortlisted firms will pitch to head of PR Gill Kingston-Warren, who joined from M&P's broadcast PR firm USP Live! in May.

Rain PR promotes

CONSUMER: Rain PR has seen off Fleishman-Hillard, Grappa PR and The Outside Organisation to promote what it has dubbed 'apres-shopping' in London's West End. It is working for The New West End Company, which represents retailers, and is attempting to re-brand the area 'Shop West End.'

Bensons for Beds takes on Mere

CONSUMER: Bed retailer Bensons for Beds has taken on its first PR agency, Cheshire-based Mere Communications, ahead of plans to expand beyond its 230 outlets.

Boots promotes

CONSUMER: Boots is using Weber Shandwick to promote its Health Club, a healthcare advice and information scheme. WS beat two agencies, including Hill & Knowlton, to a six-figure, six-month contract. Boots has handed H&K a separate healthcare project.
