Altoids, mints

In this ad for Altoids Sours, which spoofs educational films from the 1950s, a serious-sounding voiceover informs us that Theo and his science class are learning about why sour things taste sour, writes Jennifer Whitehead. Theo decides to experiment by feeding curiously strong Altoids to Gilbert the class guinea pig -- resulting in an exploding guinea pig. This US ad is unlikely to appeal to animal-mad Brits, especially with the voiceover saying "good work, Theo". Nonetheless, it does convey the power of the product. Created by LB Works, based in Chicago.
