What's the best lesson you've learnt this year?

Some people think singularly about themselves regardless of the consequences of their decisions on others.

What's the most satisfying thing you've done recently and why?

Changed everything about BMB. Our offering was becoming staid and needed a bold reinvention. We have done this and, once again, have all the energy of a start-up.

You're asked to do a TED talk. What would you choose to talk about and why?

How bullies are bad for business.

You've got £1 million to invest in something. Who/what gets your money?

I'd spend most of the money on more brilliant talent for BMB, and the remainder on a massive party for the agency somewhere exotic.

What single thing would improve your life?

My life is back on track, thanks. Things have been tough in the past couple of years, but happy with how things are working out now.

You've found a time-travel machine. Where do you go?

Back to 2005 – and make a different decision.

It's 2020. What are you doing?

Onwards and upwards. BMB has now put the difficult 2013-2014 years behind it and is pitching for more international business. I am proud to still have an active role in the agency I founded with my mate Trev.

Oops, the world ends tomorrow. What do you do today?

Thank all my friends for their love and support over the years and head home to my family.

But if you could be anyone else in adland for a day, who would you be and why?

An intern. Because I believe they have the most refreshing and realistic perspective on things.

What will be your legacy (assuming the world doesn't actually end tomorrow)?

With a bit of luck, some youth somewhere will make the connection between the second B and me. The most I can expect, but I'd be flattered. And my amazing kids, of course.

This is still a great business because…

It is the fastest-paced, most energetic and challenging creative industry of them all. Never a dull moment – but, sadly, it does get spoilt by the occasional muppet.

What makes you, you?

I care deeply about what I do (I love brilliant ideas) and am proud to be useful in creating opportunities for others. Nothing quite like offering someone a job.
