To shut up and listen. Every time I think I’ve made progress, I find a new source I have not heard from before that can help suggest how to make our network better. What's the most satisfying thing you've done recently and why?
Becoming a father – all the clichés are true. Time that was already scarce becomes scarcer, and I think that’s made me become far more effective at prioritising and focusing on what’s important, both at home and at work. You're asked to do a TED talk. What would you choose to talk about and why?
Conviction. I have found so much inspiration from others who have it, and I get frustrated when I discover incredible, talented people who don’t. It’s the desire to make a difference and the belief that, even if only in a small way, I can. It’s what gets me up in the morning. You've got £1 million to invest in something. Who/what gets your money?
I would put all of it into our “Young Cubs” programmes, helping some of our best and rawest talent apply their creative gifts to effect real change for our clients and causes that we believe in.What single thing would improve your life?
More time. You've found a time-travel machine. Where do you go?
Nowhere. I love being here, now. It's 2020. What are you doing?
Same as I am now, but even more intensely on all fronts.Oops, the world ends tomorrow. What do you do today?
Try to help figure out how to stop tomorrow from happening. But if you could be anyone else in adland for a day, who would you be and why?
Harry MacAuslan at Leo Burnett. He is the true gent of our business, a class act in every way. It’s not just that he gets people, clients and marketing. He makes everyone around him be better and feel better about themselves. If I end up half the chap he is by the time I leave the industry, I would be absolutely thrilled. What will be your legacy (assuming the world doesn't actually end tomorrow)?
No legacies, not my thing. This is still a great business because…
It’s never dull, you are always learning, and it’s almost always fun. What makes you, you?
