What's the best lesson you've learnt this year?

To be true to yourself.

What's the most satisfying thing you've done recently and why?

Welcomed Brian and Flo back to Dare.

You're asked to do a TED talk. What would you choose to talk about and why?

The primary importance of culture in creative businesses.

You've got £1 million to invest in something. Who/what gets your money?

Blackpool FC. If they're still going. It might take more than £1 million though.

What single thing would improve your life?

A home gym. For about a week, it would make a real difference.

You've found a time-travel machine. Where do you go?

To a point in the future where the building work is over and my cellar has been converted into a home gym.

It's 2020. What are you doing?

Working out in my home gym.

Oops, the world ends tomorrow. What do you do today?

Curse all the wasted hours in the gym. But then thank my lucky stars that I remembered to stash that time machine in the garden shed.

But if you could be anyone else in adland for a day, who would you be and why?

Flo Heiss – so that I could listen to death metal and actually like it.

What will be your legacy (assuming the world doesn't actually end tomorrow)?

Like everyone else with kids, they're my legacy.

This is still a great business because…

It still has more than its fair share of people who are both talented and decent.

What makes you, you?

My love of northern soul music.
