What have you been proudest of this year?

Four of the five shortlisted Media Week Rising Stars coming from Manning Gottlieb OMD.

And what's been your biggest disappointment?

Resigning Virgin Atlantic Airways after a 23-year relationship with it.

When was the last time you surprised yourself?

August 2015.

If you could change one thing about the industry at the moment, what would it be (and why)?

Everyone should slow down a tad. Pause and think a little bit more. As an industry, we are in danger of doing first and thinking second.

How do you get your creative juices flowing?

Red wine and some Twiglets.

You're planning a fun night out. Who from the industry would be your (fantasy) playmates (and why)?

I'm too old for fun nights out. Quiet, comfy drinks and chats are much more my scene these days. I think a small gathering of all the main media agency chief executives, to discuss the rights and wrongs of our business and agree certain new common principles of behaviour going forward, would be lovely. We can then drink some red wine and eat some Twiglets to make it extra special.

Help select my outfit for me each morning. Apparently, I always get it wrong.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A footballer, of course.

All the world's culture (art, music, literature etc) is about to be destroyed. What one thing would you save (and why)?

Supertramp's Even In The Quietest Moments album. The first album I ever bought and still my favourite "comfort blanket".
