What's your big ambition for the year ahead?

Spotify has been on a journey this year, as have I. It has been an amazing year, but it has blazed past and so many things I had planned did not happen. I want to help make 2018 a defining year for all the amazing people in the #classof2018 at Spotify. There is a lot more to come from us and I am excited to work with all the advertisers and agency colleagues that I am getting to know now I have crossed the divide. Personally, I would like to see some friends! I would like to see more of my family and to continue to try to stay fit.

Your mission: make advertising a desirable career for young people. What do you do?

I accept your mission! We have to make this industry stand out, set benchmarks in how it approaches all the issues of the day. My number-one ask would be to see the hiring of school-leavers as standard across the business. I believe this would help increase diversity, it would reinvigorate insight by hiring the people we often want to target and it would get rid of the old "graduate" approach. The industry has to push the boundaries. Second, I would encourage agencies to fight back and start to pump more positive headlines into the market to balance out those baying for blood.

Which industry leader has most impressed you with their ability to transform a business?

I remain in awe of Elon Musk – he could potentially be the genius of our lifetime. Combining ambition with commercial development. Rockets to cars to lorries to batteries – just stunning.

What's your most annoying professional trait?

Well, I think the general consensus is my tweeting! Now I have 280 characters, watch out! And whistling, I said that last year but it remains consistent. I sometimes struggle to read past the first few lines of emails. That can annoy people (mainly Ashley).

And what's your most embarrassing personal habit?

Not sure there is a lot of upside in revealing that one. Good try though!

You've invented yourself an AI assistant. What's the first thing you'd ask it to do?

I would love it to work out how to use my British Airways air miles and upgrades, which BA makes almost impossible to use. Send me alerts on when and where to book at the right time!

Which app would you redownload first after a digital detox?

Spotify. (Closely followed by Twitter). What more do you need in life? I have, in fact, started a digital detox by deleting one of the biggest time sucks – commercialised, cluttered apps that dissolve my brain. It feels good.

What's your side-hustle?

I write a blog – mbertozzi.com. I also love this app called BUX that lets you trade shares (in my case, in small amounts) in real time. It's quite good fun to see exactly how much you would lose if you put serious money into it. On a less commercial level, I love working with Speakers For Schools and talking to school kids about the wonder of advertising and tech.

What's your fantasy Campaign headline?

Bertozzi saves the world by sending alien a Spotify chillout playlist.

What's the soundtrack to your life?

I can't pick a soundtrack, so why not mix it up? I would always choose Discover Weekly from Spotify – it knows me better than my wife does!
