Bye-bye the decade with no name. What are you relieved to draw a line under?

I actually think it was a great decade. Lot's of thrills and spills, of course, but I don't think I'd want it any other way. We just finished our 20th year in business – it's been a great journey so far. Can't wait to waste another few years on Brexit.

What’s your biggest hope for the decade ahead?

We hold government to account on climate change and that change happens quicker. Having had very short hair for the past few years, I have noticed that I have a bit of a hole in my own ozone layer. Maybe I should consider a weave or maybe a Trump-style floss?

And what’s top of your professional to-do list for the 2020s?

We shake the earn-out out of the legs and become more weird and wonderful. We want to be well known as the boldest and the bravest agency on the planet by 2025.

You have to job swap with someone in our industry for one month. Who would it be with and why?

Paul Bainsfair. He is such an inspiring and intelligent leader in our industry. He gets access to all the best and the brightest – and all the great, the good, the bad and the ugly.

Who is your best friend in the industry and why?

I don't have one best friend but at Iris there are several co-founders, who were there right at the start 20 years ago, and lots of other partners, who have been around since nearly the start. They have made us such a good company and, to this day, give us the power to push forward.

What do you think the Friday feeling is?

A couple of glasses of IPA by the river. An ill-defined and random sense of freedom, energy and optimism.

Who or what would you put into room 101 and why?

It's hard for me to think beyond Bozzer Johnson. He's an absolute animal. I really don't know how he gets away with it.

If you could uninvent one piece of technology, what would you choose and why?

A self-awareness app. You could basically set an alarm that would would go off when you were getting a bit carried away, swearing too much, boring someone, etc.

In the spirit of embracing failure… What has been your biggest screw-up?

Do people in our industry ever tell the truth about screw-ups (unless they are endearing, of course)? In all honesty, I've made so many I don't know where to start.

What do you do to stay match fit?

Anything I can. It's a losing battle. I'm boxing, doing long-distance swimming and playing tennis. I'm also running around after three kids.

What would be your darts walk-on music and why?

Probably Sure Shot by Beastie Boys. I'm sure it'd go down well at the Lakeside.
