firstname.lastname@example.orgBye-bye the decade with no name. What are you relieved to draw a line under?
The decade of no name, no decisions, political inertia, indecisiveness and fake news. I’m quite relieved to draw a line under all of them. What’s your biggest hope for the decade ahead?
Our industry creates real change in society. Marketing for good is just good marketing – I sometimes think we forget what a difference we can make. I hope we get our collective mojo back. And what’s top of your professional to-do list for the 2020s?
To drive gender equality and diversity at the top of our industry. I would like to see more 50:50 boards like DCM's in our media world (maybe our equality has something to do with our recent success and our record revenues for 2019).You have to job swap with someone in our industry for one month. Who would it be with and why?
I would love to swap with someone who is just starting out straight from school, someone who is hungry and ambitious like I was. I’d observe their opportunities and involvement in our industry then compare that to my beginnings 30 years ago.Who is your best friend in the industry and why?
So, so many great friends from my days at Channel 4, Emap and Bauer and now DCM. I’m lucky to know a group of eclectic, colourful characters who are involved in all aspects of my life. What do you think the Friday feeling is?
It depends what Friday it is. Sometimes I’m in the DCM bar celebrating a great week, sometimes I’m working from home writing reports and sometimes I’m leaving early to pick up my daughter from school.Who or what would you put into room 101 and why?
Non-legislation on political advertising. All advertising should go through the same rigorous process. If you could uninvent one piece of technology, what would you choose and why?
Wireless headphones – the combination of my daughter’s long hair and her Apple AirPods means I never know if she’s listening to music or actually listening to me.In the spirit of embracing failure… What has been your biggest screw-up?
Not fully checking a contract, which came back to bite me. I’ve learned from this mistake – it is always about the detail. What do you do to stay match fit?
Flykick sessions, walking and shopping. What would be your darts walk-on music and why?
I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas.
