Bye-bye the decade with no name. What are you relieved to draw a line under?

Ideally Brexit and Trump but I expect to be disappointed. Apart from that, I'm not sure I'm relieved about another 10 years flashing by.

What’s your biggest hope for the decade ahead?

My three daughters stay incredible as they shift from teenagers to women.

And what’s top of your professional to-do list for the 2020s?

Try something new. Not sure what that means yet but our industry has never been more fascinating so it would be a shame to not get involved in more.

You have to job swap with someone in our industry for one month. Who would it be with and why?

Geordie Greig so I could take the Daily Mail a bit left of centre.

Who is your best friend in the industry and why?

I'm not answering that, I'm not 10 years old!

What do you think the Friday feeling is?

Getting home for dinner with the kids. It's the only day of the week it's set in stone, although my eldest is challenging that now with parties most weekends.

Who or what would you put into room 101 and why?

Arsenal (the club) and Arsenal fans who appear on AFTV. Actually, maybe leave out the AFTV fans, they're hilarious.

If you could uninvent one piece of technology, what would you choose and why?

Bluetooth earpieces. I don't know why they annoy me so much but they do.

In the spirit of embracing failure… What has been your biggest screw-up?

Little bit heavy for a light end-of-year survey, but not staying in touch as often as I'd like with many of the wonderful friends I've made along the way. "I'm sorry I'm so busy" is the phrase I hate saying most.

What do you do to stay match fit?

I run, cycle, gym, eat OK, try not to be the last one out in the evening (often a fail), get a kick out of JOMO. Professionally, I talk to as many people as I can to learn as much as I can from those who know a lot more than I do.

What would be your darts walk-on music and why?

Too Much Posse by Public Enemy. It's actually what I'd use for my boxing walk-on as it's loud, aggressive and punchy, but that's never going to happen either.
