firstname.lastname@example.orgBye-bye the decade with no name. What are you relieved to draw a line under?
It would be nice if we could start drawing a line under the worst excesses of social media – everything from political misinformation to Twitter pile-ons to death by selfie. What’s your biggest hope for the decade ahead?
That governments get serious about climate change. And what’s top of your professional to-do list for the 2020s?
Deliver deals for the same calibre of disruptive stars I’ve been lucky enough to advise over the past few years, companies like Jellyfish, Essence, Croud, MiQ, Oliver, Karmarama and Fetch. You have to job swap with someone in our industry for one month. Who would it be with and why?
I’d try something completely different. As a technologist I’m fascinated by the power of creative so maybe any chief creative role at an A-list agency, with the obvious caveat that I’d also need to be a creative genius for a month.Who is your best friend in the industry and why?
Unlike Highlander, there can’t be only one. So I’d namecheck James Connelly, founder of Fetch; Matt Isaacs and Andrew Shebbeare, Essence founders; Gurman Hundal and Lee Puri, MiQ founders; Rob Pierre and Chris Lee, Jellyfish founders; Luke Smith and Ben Knight, Croud. All brilliant entrepreneurs. What do you think the Friday feeling is?
Looking forward to family time. My kids are in the Goldilocks zone. They’re nine and 11, which means they’re great fun to be with but haven’t realised that I’m too uncool to hang out with.Who or what would you put into room 101 and why?
Brexit. If you could uninvent one piece of technology, what would you choose and why?
Nothing. I’m a passionate technology optimist. Although when someone walks into me on the street because they’re looking at their phone, my optimism is tested. In the spirit of embracing failure… What has been your biggest screw-up?
Not investing in any of the FAANG (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Google) stocks when they first listed. Though I’ll forgive myself Apple – I was only nine. What do you do to stay match fit?
Using a personal trainer. The training is good but the banter is even better. And I’ve come to terms with paying someone to make me feel guilty about not exercising. What would be your darts walk-on music and why?
Eye of the Tiger. If you lived through the 80s, there is no other walk-on music.
