Bye-bye the decade with no name. What are you relieved to draw a line under?

Dust. And a lot of it. Builders. Painters and plumbers. I'm never moving to another house again.

What’s your biggest hope for the decade ahead?

The next 10 years will be a pivotal time for my kids – and a scary time as a mum. My kids will reach 17 and 13 by the end of the next decade, that's some formative years right there. I really hope that they grow up to be good, kind, caring, thoughtful people and stay on the right tracks.

And what’s top of your professional to-do list for the 2020s?

Win more please.

You have to job swap with someone in our industry for one month. Who would it be with and why?

I'd actually love to swap with a pay-per-click or programmatic executive. I'd love to be entering our industry now and learning new things about media, I really enjoyed my early years a lot. I could have seen my career go in a completely different direction had the media landscape been different 20 years ago.

Who is your best friend in the industry and why?

Well, this will be awkward if the feeling isn't mutual. Jen Smith of Craft Media. We spent some of our early years in media together at PHD and came back together at Maxus. The L'Oréal pitch of 2013 cemented our relationship on many levels. Jen is thoughtful, so supportive and raises you up.

What do you think the Friday feeling is?

Relief + joy = relax

Who or what would you put into room 101 and why?

I did put Brexit in but then changed my mind after the school run this morning. It definitely would be young male adults wearing their kecks half way down their arse with their undies on show. For some reason it makes my blood boil and I want to go over and pull their trousers up.

If you could uninvent one piece of technology, what would you choose and why?

I would have to say the smartphone. Don't get me wrong, there are so many brilliant things that have come with it but the genuine fact that it's so hard for people to stop fiddling. I'm having to teach myself to just be able to sit there and do nothing and it's a weird feeling.

In the spirit of embracing failure… What has been your biggest screw-up?

It took me a while to figure out that you actually had to take a bit more control of your own career. Wish I'd just figured that out sooner. I think I was a media assistant for at least four years.

What do you do to stay match fit?

It's interesting that you assume I am match fit. In all honesty I feel knackered most of the time so, for me, that's the key. Enough sleep and mental downtime. You know when you need to slow down so make sure you do. Recharge with family, friends, a tidy house and crap TV.

What would be your darts walk-on music and why?

Walking on Sunshine. No idea why but it's the only song that I can imagine walking on to.
