– The Scotsman newspaper has awarded its £1 million creative advertising account to Edinburgh-based agency, 1576, following a five-way pitch.

1576 presented against rival Edinburgh agencies Smarts, Barkers, WAM McCann and Strathearn to secure the business. The agency will be responsible for running both tactical and brand advertising work in an effort to increase the paper's circulation throughout Scotland.

According to Alan Ruddock, editor of The Scotsman: "1576 presented creative work we not only found challenging, but which also forced us to reassess our own attitudes towards The Scotsman and our plans for the future."
