The AA "Stellar rescue" by Adam & Eve/DDB

Spacebug faces engine problems in The AA's deep-space spot.

Thirty-one years after the show first aired, The AA has reunited the cast of cult classic Red Dwarf for an electric sci-fi spot, highlighting the perks of the company’s breakdown service.

After Spacebug breaks down, Rimmer and the gang find themselves stranded in a lightning storm three million years into deep space. While mechanoid Kryten and evolved feline Cat cry out for help, tech-savvy Scouser Dave Lister saves the day with his handy AA app, tracking their mechanic as she pulls up in a decked-out yellow space van.

Written by Jon Farley and Alex Lucas, in collaboration with Red Dwarf creators Doug Naylor and Rob Grant, "Stellar rescue" was directed by Declan Lowney through Another Film Company.
