AAR hires a head of digital to dispense new-media wisdom

The AAR has appointed Juliet Blackburn as its first head of digital. She will be responsible for advising clients on which new-media agencies are best suited to their digital communication and marketing needs.

The AAR has appointed Juliet Blackburn as its first head of digital. She will be responsible for advising clients on which new-media agencies are best suited to their digital communication and marketing needs.

She joins from BT, where she was the head of broadband marketing communications.

Before that, Blackburn was BT's head of new media and was responsible for the online marketing of all the company's brands.

The appointment seeks to address demand from clients for guidance in the area of new-media specialists. Kerry Glazer, the managing director at the AAR, said: 'The feedback we have had from clients leaves us in no doubt that there is a need for impartial advice and information.'

Blackburn said: 'I am looking at how the new-media agency industry is divided - there is such a plethora of skills in the area.'

She will be charged with advising clients on all their new-media needs, from building websites to launching online advertising campaigns.

'I don't want to focus at the top end of the league as there are smaller clients and agencies that have more specialised needs and provide more specialised services,' Blackburn said.
