'The Dead Dogs Memorial Song' has been released by Geoff Lloyd, who presents Absolute Radio's 'Hometime Show' from 5pm to 8pm every weekday. It will form part of a feature for the show called the 'Dead Dog Memorial Wall'.
The show asked listeners to send in information about their dead dog's mannerisms and quirks – from heading a ball for 15 minutes straight to opening jam jars.
The song was written by Lloyd's co-host Annabel Port from the tributes received on the show. It was recorded by The Boys Least Likely To, whose music has featured in ads for Apple, Coke and Cadbury and in 'Grey's Anatomy'.
An animated video, which will air on YouTube and on an Absoluteradio.com splash site, was created to accompany the song and was produced by animator Adam Proctor from FortSunlight.
Other sharable content the Absolute Radio team has created in the past has included an online video to promote the station's Euro 2012 coverage, the "if" campaign featuring Ian Wright.
Lloyd said: "The combination of Annabel's beautiful lyrics and 'The Boys Least Likely To's incredible musicianship make this song a thing of wonder and beauty.
"Here's to Amstel, Conker, Knuckles, Ludwig, Socks and all those dog's we've loved and lost."
The memorial song is available to download on iTunes and all profits will go to the charity Dogs Trust.
