Adidas launches series of running events in London

Adidas is working with CSM Sport & Entertainment to deliver Adidas City Runs, a series of closed-road running events in London from October.

Adidas launches series of running events in London

The first event will be a 10k run in Shoreditch on 8 October. The partners said the route had been designed to showcase the distinctive urban environment of the hip area of east London.

Runners taking part will receive a race day T-shirt, finisher’s medal and discounts at restaurants and attractions in Shoreditch.

Further events are yet to be announced, but there will be one more this year, and at least five are planned during 2018, with the number expected to grow in future years.

Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital Charity will be the official charity partner of the series. A percentage of entry revenues will also go to Parkrun, funding free weekly 5k runs across the UK.

Lee Gibbons, senior director, sports marketing at Adidas, said: "We wanted to create a series of runs which offers runners of all abilities the chance to unlock, explore and celebrate the diversity of London’s best neighbourhoods and communities."

Jon Ridgeon, executive chairman at CSM Active, part of CSM Sport & Entertainment, added: "We have two incredible races coming to the capital in 2017, with plans to grow the series in the years to come as we look to increase the opportunities for people to take part in major closed road running events."

Entries for the Shoreditch 10k open on 5 July.
