Adidas launches World Cup challenge with sporting celebrities

Adidas Golf has launched an online World Cup 'Keepy Uppy' challenge featuring sports stars including Tim Henman, Matt Dawson, Jamie Redknapp.

The viral campaign is being managed by the marketing team at TaylorMade-Adidas Golf, with digital partner Purestone overseeing the website and the brands You Tube Channel.

The activity aims to promote Adidas' golf-shoe range with ThinTech technology, which it claims improves stability, balance and power transfer for the golfer.

Consumers will be able to upload their own video clips to the site to win weekly prizes for the most original and entertaining clips, selected by Sergio Garcia, an Adidas gold brand ambassador, and the Adidas Golf marketing team.

Prizes range from prizes from Adidas Golf shoes, to Adidas golf apparel or Jabulani World Cup footballs.

The eventual winner of the competition will receive a replica World Cup Final ball called "Jo'bulani" by Adidas, signed by Sergio Garcia, as well as a signed pair of Sergio's golf shoes and £1,000 worth of Adidas golf apparel.

Consumers can only enter the competition if they are wearing Adidas golf shoes whilst doing their Keepy Uppy film.

Ryan Lauder, marketing director of TaylorMade-Adidas Golf EMEA, said: "This all started with Garcia kicking a football around during some downtime on a TV shoot in the US.

"From there, we built a whole 'Keepy Uppy' campaign around our new footwear ThinTech technology and decided that launching around the World Cup and peak golf season when rounds play are at their highest would be ideal."

Adidas is an official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup.
