Aegis redeploys digital experts to boost Vizeum

Team of 25 specialists from Aegis-owned Diffiniti to buoy up integrated offering.

Aegis Media is to move a 25-strong team of digital specialists from its digital agency Diffiniti into Vizeum to strengthen the media agency's integrated offering.

The move will also see Ben Wood, the joint managing director of Carat Digital, joining the Vizeum board as a managing partner to oversee the new team. Wood will not be replaced at Carat Digital, with Henry Rowe becoming sole managing director.

Wood, who starts in his new role in January, will report to the joint managing directors of Vizeum, Matt Andrews and Grant Millar. He will work closely with Emma Batchelor, who joined Vizeum in April as its first digital strategist from Agency Republic.

The team of digital specialists will expand Vizeum's staff from 65 members to 90, and increase its annual billings from £185 million to more than £200 million.

Negotiations with media owners will continue to be handled through Aegis' digital network, Isobar. The decision to hive off a team of staff from Diffiniti was spearheaded by the chief executive of Aegis Media in the UK, Nigel Sharrocks, in conjunction with Andrews and Millar.

Sharrocks said: "The UK marketplace is one of the most digitally developed in the world thanks to broadband, broadcasters and the telecoms companies. This is throwing up challenges for our clients whose demands are rapidly evolving alongside changing media business models. So we are continually reassessing both the structure and the deployment of our talent."

The new team, which will move into Vizeum from the beginning of November, will work for a range of the agency's clients including AOL, Halifax, Teletext, Coca-Cola, Coors and Eurostar.

Andrews said: "Digital isn't a channel. It's a set of new audience behaviours, demands and expectations that are having an impact across all media. To connect, we are changing the way we think and work."
