Cable & Wireless is talking to three global networks about a

multi-million dollar brief to launch a major new internet project.

C&W is best known in this country for its TV and cable subsidiary, much

of which has now been sold to NTL. But this project is the brainchild of

C&W’s London-based global operations division, which is planning a major

initiative to sell its services directly over the internet.

Agency Assessments is understood to have briefed three agencies -

Saatchi & Saatchi, Bates Worldwide and D’Arcy - about an above-the-line

campaign to promote the initiative, which is due to go live in late

spring.

A spokesman for Cable & Wireless declined to confirm or deny the

review.

’We are constantly looking at agencies to assist us right across the

market,’ he said.

None of the agencies involved was available for comment as Campaign went

to press, although a result is expected by the end of the month.
