- Agency.com, the global digital agency, has made 190 staff redundancies as part of a major restructuring plan. The agency has laid off over 30 of its UK staff, and closed an office in Colorado.
Management at the agency said that the restructuring is an attempt to realign the business to respond to the changing interactive environment. Chan Suh, chairman and chief executive of Agency.com, said: "We're taking these steps now to protect our profitability and in an effort to align our business to deliver revenue and earnings growth in 2001."
Agency.com recently lost the e-commerce account for British Airways to the new media agency iXL, although it is to maintain the digital marketing account for the brand. One of the agency's senior creative directors Jason Young, who was a driving force behind the work which Agency did for BA over the last 12 months, left the agency last month to join PixelPark.
The agency competes with the likes of AKQA and Omnicom sibling Razorfish, and its other clients include Compaq, Heineken and Reuters.
