’Our sales conference took over the Radisson Hotel on the Promenade des

Anglais, which runs right along the sea front.

’Of course, we all worked extremely hard during the day, but we had a

major bash on the Saturday night in the shape of a Latin-themed fancy

dress party. I went for my trademark black suit, Antonio Banderas-style,

but there was a disturbing number of loud shirts doing the rounds. There

were also some interesting dance manoeuvres, not least from ad director

David Walsh. More than one or two Pernod pick-me-ups were circulating

the next morning.’
