He was working for UK Gold and the channel was launching Classic Match

of The Day.



Sales director Nick Milligan (now at Channel 5) hired Wembley stadium

for a day and all the agency and sales guys played a footie tournament

on the hallowed turf.



To add extra novelty, each team had a manager from the heyday of the

English game.’There were guys like Alan Mullery and Geoff Hurst

wandering around and Jimmy Hill presented the team prizes,’ remembers

Duncan. ’It was only 15 minutes per game, but by the end we were all

knackered.’
