Beattie will be based in DDB's London office and will focus on the development of DDB and Tribal DDB's regional and global accounts.
He will also provide strategic input on any new-business opportunities.
At AKQA, Beattie built and led the planning team and worked on accounts such as Heineken, for which he developed a global digital strategy, and Sainsbury's.
Before moving to AKQA, Beattie was the head of digital strategy at Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO. Before that, he held strategic roles including that of group senior planner at LBi. He has also headed the interactive department at Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam.
Beattie is expected to work closely with Patrick Rona, the chief digital officer and president of Tribal DDB EMEA.
