- AltaVista is to follow its larger web search engine rivals and redesign its Website in order to target a mainstream consumer audience.
To date the search engine, which can be found at www.digital.altavista.com, has primarily attracted a technical audience. It is now developing its site to include 10 to 12 themed information "zones," including shopping.
The new-look site will launch with a month-long promotional push including a Web ad campaign, direct marketing and public relations. The brand is also considering a television advertising campaign.
