- Amazon.co.uk is believed to have drafted in a senior US marketer to manage its UK brand, following the unexpected departure of marketing director Chris Ketley last month.

It is understood that Peter Hildick-Smith, a former senior marketer at publisher Bantam Doubleday and GE Capital Global, will join Amazon.co.uk within the next few weeks.

It is thought that Ketley, who was with the company for less than four months, exited following disagreements with the US parent Amazon.com, which wanted to take more control of Amazon's UK marketing.

Immediately after his departure Amazon began reviewing its ad account out of Banks Hoggins O'Shea FCB. HHCL & Partners and St Luke's have been shortlisted for the business.
