Ammirati Puris Lintas has hired Susanna Hailstone, the account
director behind the Wonderbra ’hello boys’ campaign, as a board account
director.
Hailstone, 33, will work on Lever Europe, Interflora and new-business
projects. She will report to Chris Thomas, the agency’s chief
executive.
Hailstone most recently worked at Leagas Shafron Davis, where she headed
account management and ran the Inland Revenue Self Assessment business,
among others. She was left without a job when the agency went into
receivership in March (Campaign, 6 March).
Hailstone began her career in 1984 at Bates Dorland, moving to Lowe
Howard-Spink in 1987. In 1989 she joined TBWA, where she rose to group
account director, running the award-winning Wonderbra campaign. She then
moved to Euro RSCG in 1995, most notably working on the ’search for the
hero’ ad to launch the Peugeot 406. She joined Leagas Shafron in
1996.
Hailstone previously worked with Thomas when the pair were at Bates
Dorland.
Thomas said: ’Susanna brings with her a tremendous track record and has
been associated with some outstanding creative work. She is a big
personality and will make a difference to the accounts she works on and
to the agency as a whole. We’re delighted to have her on board.’
Hailstone said: ’The opportunity to work with Chris again was too
exciting to refuse. I wanted to broaden my international experience and
the challenge offered was the right step to take.’
Hailstone was one of 14 initial redundancies sparked by Leagas Shafron’s
loss of the Royal & SunAlliance business and the expense of buying
itself out of the Wilkens European network. She joins APL
immediately.
Thomas added: ’She’s somebody whose career I have watched with interest
over the years.’
