AMV Advance appoints ex-O&M creative Gill

AMV Advance, the Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO group's integrated

specialist, has hired Stuart Gill, the former Ogilvy & Mather creative

group head, as its first executive creative director.

Gill, a Cannes silver award-winner with his work for First Choice

holidays, is being taken on to provide creative direction and

personality for the two-year-old shop set up to handle Sainsbury's local

marketing business.

Gill's arrival changes the current arrangement under which creative

control has been shared between Rob Purdie and Dave Smith. He joined the

agency when it absorbed Clark & Taylor. Both Purdie and Smith will

remain as creative directors.

The appointment culminates a six-month search for a creative chief and

comes in the wake of extra assignments to the agency from Sainsbury's

and Argos, as well as Warner Village Cinemas and the Crimestoppers


AMV Advance's managing director, Steve Carrigan, said: "We wanted
