Having spent more than nine years in media sales, Richard Bond decided
his leaving bash should have a ’leaving the industry’ theme, to mark his
move to Liverpool agency Paver Downes.
He hired Manchester’s Bar Centro and, after a bit of out-of-the-box
thinking, decided his guest list (which included Manchester’s top
journalists, designers, clients and agency people) might be of interest
to a drinks sponsor looking to reach the elusive ’opinion-formers’ of

The timing proved to be excellent as Guinness was planning to hold
sampling nights in Manchester for its new ’draft in bottles’ campaign. A
deal was done, more than 100 invites went out featuring Guinness
bottles,Bond’s guests got to sample a few free bottles and had the
chance to win a load of Guinness goodies.
