Ananova picks Lowe and Media Planning to handle pounds 6m drive

Ananova, the real-time news and information service, has appointed

Lowe Lintas and Media Planning Group to its pounds 6 million creative

and media accounts.



Lowe and Media Planning were hired on the strength of their work for

Orange, of which Ananova is a subsidiary. The agencies will report to

the marketing controller, Gavin Forth, who joined Ananova last month

from Boots.



The appointment comes after the client called off a competitive review

for the task last October, having seen presentations from several

agencies.



Ananova will continue to work with Michaelides & Bednash, which it hired

last October, on brand development and communications ideas. However,

Media Planning will handle media planning and buying.



Forth said: 'This will be our biggest awareness campaign yet. We need to

tell consumers about the services we offer and establish us as a brand

leader in mobile news delivery. Ultimately, we're looking to Lowe and

Media Planning to make Ananova a part of people's lives.'



Chris Thomas, the chief executive of Lowe, added: 'We are delighted to

be working on a forward-thinking brand and relish the task of

introducing Ananova to a wider audience.'
