Anheuser-Busch takes £19m account in-house

LONDON - OMD faces the loss of £19m in UK billings with news that Anheuser-Busch is opening an in-house media planning and buying subsidiary called Busch Media.

The new operation will handle media planning and buying for Budweiser, Michelob and Bud Ice in the UK. It will also supervise all Anheuser-Busch media activity throughout Europe.

Tony Ponturo, group vice-president for corporate media and sports marketing at Anheuser-Busch, said: "The UK is an important market for Budweiser and opening Busch Media Group - Europe is an extension of our in-house media buying strategy that has been extremely successful in the US over the past ten years."
