Timberland, the outdoor shoes and clothing company, has appointed
Ammirati Puris Lintas to handle its integrated advertising account.
APL won the business, estimated to be worth between #3 million and #5
million across Europe, in a pitch against Lowe & Partners Europe. It
will work hand-in-hand with its fellow Interpublic shop, the US-based
Martin Agency, which is Timberland’s global agency.
Meanwhile, Initiative Media, which pitched with APL, has won
Timberland’s media planning and buying business. The account was
previously at New PHD.
Mark Cadman, APL’s client services director, said: ’Timberland is a
famous brand with tremendous product integrity and we are delighted to
be working with the Martin Agency. This assignment provides us with some
strategic challenges and the opportunity to communicate the power of the
brand through the line.’
Gordon Baird, Timberland’s UK managing director, said: ’Following a
review stimulated by the need to work with a sister agency of Martin, we
are delighted to confirm the appointment of APL and Initiative Media.
This should ensure consistent execution of Timberland’s brand
strategy.’
The US-based Timberland, which designs, manufactures and distributes
footwear, clothing and accessories, has four retail outlets in the
London area and is also distributed wholesale throughout the UK.
