Venture capital firm Balderton Capital led the latest round investment. It follows 18 months of growth at Appear Here, which has facilitated more than 500 short-term lets to brands and businesses in the past year.

Ross Bailey, founder of Appear Here, said: "We’re delighted that Balderton has come on board with this major round of funding. The investment enables international expansion in 2015, and also further investment in our customer service.

"We have already developed five-star service for customers, including a concierge service, and online contracts and payments, which make it even easier for people to turn their ideas into reality."

Eight out of the UK’s ten biggest retail landlords have signed exclusive deals with Appear Here to market their space, including British Land, Land Securities and Hammerson. Over the last year, the company has seen more than 10,000 brands search its database at any given time, while the number of properties listed on its website increased by 200%.

The company’s recent clients include music technology company Aether, which is currently hosting a pop-up on South Molton Street in London, Jamie Oliver, Moleskine and Marc Jacobs.

Mark Evans, general partner at Balderton, added: "Appear Here is a simple idea which lets brands and entrepreneurs thrive and allows landlords to make the most profitable use of their space. The marketplace for retail space is ripe for a digitally-led overhaul and Appear Here are way ahead of any would-be competitors."
